Book of the week #2 | Libro de la semana #2

15:26

Hello everyone!
Over the past weeks i've been reading a book called "Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend" by Matthew Dicks. (ABAJO PUEDES ENCONTRAR MI RESEÑA EN ESPAÑOL)

Synopsis:
Budo is lucky as imaginary friends go. He's been alive for more than five years, which is positively ancient in the world of imaginary friends. But Budo feels his age, and thinks constantly of the day when eight-year-old Max Delaney will stop believing in him. When that happens, Budo will disappear.
Max is different from other children. Some people say that he has Asperger’s Syndrome, but most just say he’s “on the spectrum.” None of this matters to Budo, who loves Max and is charged with protecting him from the class bully, from awkward situations in the cafeteria, and even in the bathroom stalls.
MY THOUGHTS:

Well, by judging the book's cover, you don't think anything bad, just because it seems really innocent but very surprisingly, and something more like an adventure - which happens-. As you start reading the book you get the idea that is Budo (Max imaginary friend) is the one who tells the story of how he sees the world as his knowledges learning by Max, their teachers, parents and sometimes while he is walking around.
Budo is seen as a real person, who has his own thoughts, he is selfish, he feels, you may think he is like a person until you realise he is just an imaginary friend. At first Budo tells you about his human friend and creator Max and his family and tells you what he (Budo) likes and dislikes.
What I liked the most about this book was the friendship between every single character, but most of all between Max and Budo their friendship was so strong, so original, it makes you cry. I think you probably going to love every single character -not all of them- they have a unique personality, most of all Oswald (I loved Oswald), I have to be honest with something and I started to cry at the chapter 54 until the end.
About the end: Hmmm, it is really predictable, but Anyways you gonna cry (maybe), ¡SPOILER ALERT! at the epilogue you get confused and you don't know what happened to Budo, it makes you a lot of questions; is he is alive? Is he in heaven? what happened?, so I made my search and I end of the page of the author and he said: "When I finished the book, it had no epilogue. I went to bed thinking that my story was finished, but when I awoke the next morning, these nine sentences were in my mind, almost exactly as they appear on the page today."(Page)  and that makes me think that I can create my own end to Budo, and that is great!

I totally recommend it, "Memories of an imaginary friend" not only leaves you with a bittersweet ending but you can also get to give the meaning of friendships, fight your fears and never forget the imagination. Unbelievable.

MEMORIAS DE UN AMIGO IMAGINARIO

SINOPSIS:

Querido lector:
