Movie of the Week #6

DARK PLACES

Honestly, I saw this film because there wasn't other option, may sound very ignorant, but I had not heard about this film or the novel behind the adaptation before, but I have made my research and now I'm informed, but my opinion of the movie still the same.

'Dark Places' It's based on the novel by the same name by Gillian Flynn. Which tells the story of Libby, the only surviving witness of a horrific massacre that took the lives of her mother and sisters, she testifies in court against her own brother Ben as the perpetrator of the crime, twenty years after the murder, Libby it's contacted by an amateur club in solving crimes, since they believe that Libby's brother is innocent and there is something hidden.Which makes Libby unearth painful memories and deal with people from the past, including her brother.

Until now it seems pretty interesting, right? Even more, as soon as you know the cast; Charlize Theron, Nicholas Holt, Chlöe Moretz y Christina Hendricks, seems pretty awesome now. Directed and written by Gilles Paquet-Brenner, from what I've read the script it's not so far from the book, but the plot of the story is to encourage the viewer to make their own conclusion in the course of the film, the direction of the film is regular, sometimes shows scenarios that are pointless for the film and distracts the plot from the viewer the plot is too fast or poorly developed as far as the performance of the actors it's enjoyable and well performed.

The film is slightly disappointed, I expected a bit more, the story is somewhat bumbling, if I recommend it? No, maybe for a very boring afternoon (like mine) and be willing to lose one hour and fifty three minutes, something I should highlight of the film, which I loved, it shows topics such as Satanism, domestic violence, poverty and drugs, something very popular in the 80s scenarios.
